FAIRFIELD, Conn. — If you notice your local police officers are looking a little scruffier than usual next month, there’s a good reason.
Police Chief Gary MacNamara has authorized members of the force to participate in #NoShaveNovember, which encourages participants to forgo the razor to provoke conversation and raise cancer awareness.
Those involved embrace their hair, shedding light on the fact that many cancer patients lose theirs during treatments.
Members of the Fairfield force are encouraged to donate any money they would spend on shaving and grooming in a typical month to cancer research and awareness.
