Stamford Police nabbed an escapee from a Department of Corrections halfway house after receiving a tip of where he was hiding out.

Christopher J. Williams was located inside a home on Myano Lane on Wednesday after receiving the information that was where he was hiding, said Stamford Police Lt. Michael Noto.

Officers secured the location and made contact with a woman at the residence; she initially denied that Williams was inside the residence, Noto said.

However, as officers were engaged with the woman at the front of the residence, Williams attempted to flee out of the rear of the residence.

"He was immediately met by Stamford Police Officers who had secured the area and he was taken into custody after a minor struggle," Noto said. "Thankfully no one, including the suspect, suffered any injuries."

Williams was taken into custody and charged with interfering with police stemming from the struggle at the residence and was released into the custody of the Connecticut State Police to be remanded back to the Department of Correction.

He was originally incarcerated on a robbery charge.

Noto commended the following officers for their work catching the suspect: Sgt. Christopher Petrizzi, Officers Robert Bulman, James Comstock, Erik Soderholm, Ramon Gipson, Kelli Reynolds, and Steve Estabrook.

"Apprehending an escapee is always a dangerous proposition and they used their experience to their advantage and took a dangerous felon off the streets," he added.

The department also thanked the "concerned citizen" who informed officers of where Williams was hiding.

"It is not possible for us to do our jobs effectively without the cooperation of the community," Noto stated.
