Gimel Anderson of Bridgeport was charged Friday, Nov. 9 with aggravated sexual assault, strangulation, assault and unlawful restraint, according to the Connecticut Post.

The attack was uncovered after police in Springfield, Massachusetts, were notified by hospital officials on Oct. 20 that an assault victim had come into the hospital for treatment of injuries she received while on an online date, said the Post.

An investigation found that the woman met Anderson through the website Tagged and came to Bridgeport to meet with him, the paper reported.

The unidentified woman met Anderson at his home and police said when he got into the woman's car he began choking her and hit her in the head with the beer bottle before raping her, the Post said.

Anderson then took a photo of the woman's driver's license warning her if she told anyone he would kill her.

The woman then went to the hospital in Springfield for treatment of her wounds, the Post said.
