Officer Involved Shooting At CVS Parking Lot Under Investigation, State Police Say

Connecticut State Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that took place in the parking lot of a CVS store.

The shooting took place around 10:30 p.m. Thursday when five officers of the Meriden Police Department's Crime Suppression Unit, began following a Buick Century on West Main Street, said the state police.

As the officers, in an unmarked vehicle, continued to follow the Buick onto I-691 a firearm was discharged from inside the vehicle.

Officers continued to follow the Buick into the CVS parking lot, 839 East Main St., Meriden. The driver of the car,  Ryan Holley, 41, Meriden, exited the car with a firearm in his hand, while still moving. 

Officers exited their vehicle and as Holley turned towards them, three officers discharged their firearms striking Holley, state police said.

Holley was transported to Hartford Hospital for the report of non-life threatening injuries. There were no officers injured during the course of this incident.

State police crime detectives were requested by the New Haven State's Attorney Office to assist in the investigation.
