Police: Five Arrested In Fairfield Jewelry Store Robbery

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Five suspects have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping and armed robbery involving Fairfield’s Lenox Jewelers last month, according to official reports.

On April 11 a group of masked suspects invaded a Meriden apartment, tying up four people currently at the home, according to police reports. Two of the residents, employees of Lenox Jewelers on Black Rock Turnpike, were taken to the store and forced to open the door and safe, police say. The suspects then left with more than $4 million worth of jewelry.

A joint task force including the Fairfield Police, Meriden Police, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Marshals, and the U.S. Attorney’s office investigated the case and identified five suspects, officials said Thursday. One of the suspects, Timothy Forbes, 31, of Allentown, Pa., was already in police custody for unrelated charges, according to the press release.

“This is a great example of Connecticut law enforcement working together,” Fairfield Police Chief Gary MacNamara said in a press release. “These individuals tried to exploit our jurisdictional boundaries and this group of law enforcement proved those boundaries are just lines on a map.”

The other four suspects were arrested in Allentown, Pa. and the Bronx, N.Y. Wednesday night, according to police reports. Cash, jewelry and drugs were also found during the arrests, police say. The four suspects arrested Wednesday were William Davis, 25, of Allentown, Pa., Jeffrey Houston, 26, also of Allentown, Christopher Gay, 27, of Bronx, N.Y. and Kasam Hennix, 39, of Easton, Pa.

Houston and Gay were taken to Connecticut for arraignment Thursday. Hennix and Davis were arraigned in Pennsylvania Thursday. All five men were charged with kidnapping, robbery and use of a firearm in a crime of violence, according to U.S. Attorney Diedre Daly.

“The investigation remains ongoing, and as of the time of this release, Fairfield Police detectives continue to conduct follow up investigations in multiple states,” Fairfield Police said in a statement Thursday. “While case work continues we are confident that we have broken the back of a violent gang suspected of carrying out similar crimes in the Northeast.”
