The 15-year-old son of Christopher Andrews, 51, told a 911 operator that his father was acting like a man "possessed" as he beat his wife and children with a bat in a harrowing domestic attack just before 6 a.m. Feb. 16 in their home on Mountain Laurel Road, according to the Post.
The son told the 911 operator that his father had never acted that way before, the Post said.
The couple's 13-year-old daughter also called 911 after fleeing the house as she heard screaming and beating sounds in her home, the Post said.
Fairfield Police have previously said that said Officer Sean Fenton, who was first to arrive at the scene, encountered Andrews in the front yard and ordered him to drop the knife. When Andrews did not drop the weapon and continue to advance on Fenton, the officer shot and killed him.
Andrews' wife and older son have since been released from the hospital, while the younger son is recovering in a rehabilitation center. The daughter was not injured.
The Connecticut Post story was based on a search warrant affidavit issued to State Police and released by the court, according to Fairfield Police Lt. James Perez and the Post.
"This case currently remains under investigation by The Connecticut State Police," Perez said in an email to Daily Voice.
