FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A Bridgeport man was accused of breaking into a pair of cars parked near the Fairfield-Bridgeport line Tuesday night, according to police reports.
A resident near Roselle Street called police to report a man walking in the neighborhood about 11 p.m. Tuesday. The suspect was checking door handles on parked cars to see if they were unlocked, according to the witness’s report.
Officers on patrol stopped Raymond Echevarria, 32, of Bridgeport on nearby Brookview Avenue.. A pat-down found that Echevarria had “several electronics items” in his pockets, including an iPod and two cell phones, police say. The items were traced to two cars parked in the area, one in Fairfield and one in Bridgeport, according to police reports.
Echevarria was charged with two counts of third-degree burglary and one count each of third-degree larceny and attempted larceny. After processing he was taken to St. Vincent’s Medical Center for treatments for illegal drugs in his system, according to police reports. He is due in court on July 17.
