Suspect Tracked Down After Theft Of 65-Inch Flat Screen At Home Under Construction In Westport

A Bridgeport man was arrested for stealing items from a home under construction after fingerprints linked him to the crime.

Westport Police officers were dispatched for a report of a residential burglary to a home under construction on Sept. 28. A 65-inch television and Samsung sound bar were stolen from the wall resulting in $1,000 damage to the wall to which it was mounted, said the Westport Police. The approximate value of the television was $1,200. 

Detectives responded to the scene and processed the home and evidence for fingerprints and DNA. Fingerprints found at the scene and investigation by Westport detectives identified the suspect as Daniel Cabrera-Otero of Bridgeport.

On Friday, Oct. 19, Cabrera-Otero was located on Soundview Avenue in Bridgeport, by Westport detectives. 

He was taken into custody and charged with burglary, criminal mischief, and larceny. 

Cabrera-Otero is being held on $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 28
