Two suspects have been arrested for the brutal beating of a man that took place earlier this fall in Shelton.

On Oct. 12, around 1 a.m. Shelton Police were dispatched to the area of 159 Center St., on a report of an unresponsive male laying on the sidewalk covered in blood, said Shelton Det. Chris Nugent.

EMS was dispatched to the scene and transported the 35 year old male to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he was treated for serious injuries to his face and body.

Shelton Detectives responded to the scene and investigated the incident.

Through interviews, the assistance of local downtown business owners, and the public’s assistance, detectives were able to identify two men responsible for the assault, Nugent said.

With the assistance of Derby Police Department and Department of Corrections, Shelton Police arrested Kelvin Whitehurst, 31, of Derby on

Tuesday, Nov. 20, and charged him with assault, conspiracy to commit assault and breach of peace. He is being held on $250,000 bond.

On Wednesday, Nov. 28, Coma Fogle, 37, of Waterbury turned himself into Shelton Police in connection with the assault.

He was charged with assault, conspiracy to commit assault and breach of peace. He is also being held on $250,000 bond.

The victim was released from the hospital after an extended period of treatment.
