To the Editor:
I am a retired teacher and author of the book, From Losers to Winners. The book describes 26 formerly incorrigible high school students who, in combination with teachers who cared, went on successful careers and became positive contributors to society.
I am now acquainted with a person who, at one time, could have qualified as the top incorrigible. This person maintains how teacher concern truly helped him change his ways, and not only set, but also achieve his goals. He moved onward and upward, from being accepted to and graduating from Cornell University to his current position of State Senator. His name is Tony Hwang.
Tony's commitment to the community and continuous focus on critical issues is non-stop. He constantly , battles against tax increases, Metro-North fares or a higher United Illuminating rate hike. He is projecting gun laws which more strictly enforce the Orders of Protection. He is continuously concerned about the future of seniors and how to make not only the 28th District, but all of Connecticut, an affordable place to live. He has solutions, and is not timid to cross the aisle to present them. He demands social responsibility, fiscal accountability and curbing excessive government spending. As an advocate for educational improvement, he was recognized by a state education coalition with an Educational Leadership Award for his commitment to securing an excellent public school experience for all children.
And that's who he is, an advocate for all, his constituency and BEYOND. Vote for the person, not the party. Vote for the best, VOTE for Tony Huang.
