FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Democratic Registrar of Voters Matt Waggner has begun to build a campaign for Fairfield's state representative seat in the 133rd District, he announced Tuesday.
“Even in Fairfield, inequality and poverty are rising, and every day people are growing more frustrated about their ability to change the course,” Waggner said. “We need to do more to make our economy reflect our values, and I’m ready to help deliver that change.”
Waggner, 33, joins town Selectman Cristin McCarthy-Vahey in the run for the Democratic nomination for the seat.
Currently, Democrat Kim Fawcett holds the seat for the 133rd District. Last October, she announced that she was forming an exploratory committee for a possible run for the state Senate seat that is occupied by Republican John McKinney, who is running for governor.
Should McKinney not receive the Republican nomination for governor, he will continue a run for the state Senate and Fawcett will run for state representative.
