FAIRFIELD, Conn. — The Fairfield Ludlow High School community will gather to celebrate commencement for the Class of 2016 at 6 tonight on the school’s Taft Field.
Gates for stadium seating for the ceremony will open at 5 p.m. If the ceremony is moved indoors, the doors to the gym will open at 5 p.m.
Each graduate will receive six tickets for the ceremony, if it is outdoors. If the ceremony is in the gym, some ticket holders will be allowed in the large gym and others will watch the telecast from the small gym or auditorium. Tickets are marked to show their access level.
Families of students can share their extra tickets with fellow students. Any additional guests who do not have tickets may wait outdoors. School officials will allow extra guests to fill in any empty seats once ticket holders are seated if the ceremony is outdoors. If the ceremony is inside, there will be no extra seating for non-ticket holders.
Graduating seniors should be dropped off at school and in their home rooms by 5 p.m. Families are encouraged to car pool and park in the lower, front lot off Unquote Road, the rear lot or at Roger Ludlow or Tomlinson middle schools.
A shuttle will operate from 4:45-8:30 p.m. between Tomlinson and the high school. Police and volunteer attendants will direct traffic.
Graduates will be seated on the stadium field or gym floor. Guests will sit on ground level and the bleachers for an outdoor ceremony and in bleachers and seats if it is indoors. Those with handicaps can request assistance from volunteer marshals, who will escort them to their seats.
Island Photography will take photos as each graduate crosses the stage to receive a diploma, as well as candida photos before and after the ceremony. Guests should not go up to the platform for photos.
Home room teachers will distribute diplomas on the field. Guests should wait for their graduates in the end zone nearest the high school building or outside the fence.
If the ceremony is inside, graduates will report to the cafeteria to receive diplomas. Guest should wait in the gym or auditorium.
