How To Erase Summer Learning Loss

Summer is here which means the pool is open, the grill is fired up and yes, school is out. For many parents and students the all too familiar phrase "summer learning loss," is on their minds, but what does that really mean?

Here are a few statistics:

  • Approximately 2.6 months of math skills are lost over the summer.
  • It can take up to two months from the first day of school for a student’s brain development to get back on track.
  • The equivalent of one month of overall learning is lost after summer vacation.
  • Two months of reading skills are lost over the summer.

Two months of subject-focused learning is all it takes to improve specific learning skills. This could mean intentional education at home over the summer, or enrolling in a summer school program.

Fusion Academy offers a more flexible and unique option than a typical summer school experience. All classes are one-to-one: one student and one teacher per classroom. This allows for personalization of curriculum (think about learning math with superheroes), and the customization of scheduling around family summer plans. Students can enroll at any time, and classes can be taken at a time of day that works best with their schedule.

Beyond the summer school basics, Fusion also offer educational programs year-round that fit the specific needs of all their students. For more information on Fusion summer programs, click here.
