Darrin Campbell, who was renting out and living in Blake's home in a gated community in Tampa, reportedly shot his wife and two teenage children before setting the home on fire and taking his own life, The Courant reported.

"I didn't know them," Blake told the Courant. "I'd exchanged a few emails with the lease agreement; never met them face to face."

Blake, who grew up in Fairfield, was in New Haven on Thursday to announce he will play in an event in August. He is scheduled to play American tennis legends Jim Courier and Andy Roddick during the event, which will coincide with the New Haven Open.

Blake is a native of Yonkers, N.Y., and now lives in Westport with his wife and two children.
