Animal Cruelty Investigation Launched In Northampton County Police are investigating after a dog was found dead in a cage in Forks Township over the weekend. Officers were called to Frutchey Hill Road and Richmond Road Saturday morning, April 20 for an "animal complaint," Township police said in a release.  A small, brown Yorkie with a green colored bandana was found dead in a cage under a white bedsheet, authorities said. The dog "appeared to have been deceased for an extended period of time," they noted.  Anyone with information is being asked to submit a tip through Crimewatch.

Woman Shot In North Philadelphia Home: Police A 49-year-old woman was shot once in the stomach in the living room of a Philadelphia residence Monday night, April 22, according to police.  Investigators said it happened on the 100 block of Linton Street in Olney around 7:40 p.m. The victim was taken to Einstein Hospital in critical condition, authorities said.  One person was detained in connection with the shooting and a weapon was recovered, PPD added.

Troopers Investigate 'Terroristic Threats' Toward Monroe County Wawa State police were called to a Chesnuthill Township Wawa when an anonymous caller made "terroristic threats" last week, authorities said in a release.  The Wawa at 1781 Route 209 got the calls around 10:30 p.m. Friday, April 19, troopers said.  The store was temporarily closed and employees were evacuated while police "conducted a walk-through and assessed the building," according to the release. Nothing suspicious was found and the store reopened, police said.  The matter remains under investigation by PSP's Fern Ridge station.

Crews Respond To Commercial Fire In North Whitehall (Photos) Multiple fire departments were at the scene of a large commercial fire in North Whitehall early Monday morning, April 22.  Greenawalds Fire Rescue 11 said it happened on the 4800 block of Kersnville Road just after 1 a.m. Photos from the scene appear to show the garage and several vehicles at trucking company Doctor Diesel damaged by flames.  Weisenberg Volunteer Fire Department said they were on the scene until 7 a.m. No injuries were reported by authorities.  East Allen Township Fire Department and Coplay Fire Department also responded to the multi-alarm blaze.

1 Dead In Mid-Day Philadelphia Crash, Driver Detained: Police Police in Philadelphia are investigating a deadly mid-day crash that happened Sunday, April 21. A red Nissan Pathfinder lost control and struck a tree in the left median on the 400 block of Roosevelt Boulevard N around 12:30 p.m., city police said. Two juveniles, the driver and a passenger, were taken to St. Christopher Hospital by Medic 29. The rear passenger was declared dead at the scene by Medic 29 at 12:54 p.m., police said. The driver was detained for investigation.
