Bacterial Infection With Unusual, Serious Symptoms Prompts CDC Warning
A bacterial infection is appearing nationally with unusual and serious symptoms according to federal authorities. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has just issued a Health Alert warning that the rare illness, caused by a strain of Neisseria meningitidis bacteria, has a higher fatality rate than normally seen with meningococcal infections. Police in Bensalem are advising area residents to be on the lookout for scam phone calls. BPD says multiple residents have reported fraudulent phone calls from scammers impersonating officers, sometimes using the names of real policemen. A second person has died following a single-car crash in Lansford Borough on March 9, according to the Lehigh County Coroner's Office. James R. A Philadelphia teen who was previously charged in the murder of Tyshaun Welles has been cleared of any wrongdoing, the District Attorney's Office says. Two of the six construction workers killed in the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse have been identified.
