FAIRFIELD, Conn. A Bridgeport man was charged with thefts from Fairfield garages and cars last April. The victims all lived along the suspects delivery route for the Connecticut Post, police say.
The incidents all occurred between April 8 and April 19. The first theft was a $500 set of golf clubs left outside a Matilda Place garage and reported missing on April 8. Two more sets of clubs worth a combined $2,500 were taken from a Round Hill Road garage on April 12. Guitars and various electronics valued at more than $3,600 were also reported missing from a Cranston Street garage on April 19.
Fairfield police tracked the golf clubs to a pawn shop in Milford. The stores documents led investigators to Giovanni Feliciano, 27, of Bridgeport, according to the police report. His girlfriend, Viviana Nieves, had previously been charged with the thefts in April. Feliciano was arrested Saturday on a warrant in Bridgeport.
During the investigation, Feliciano agreed to let officers search his car, police say. During the search, police found that he delivered papers for the Connecticut Post, and that the locations of the three thefts are on his daily route, according to police reports. Officers also found a GPS unit in his car that was reported stolen from a car parked on Francis Street around the time of the other thefts, according to police reports.
Feliciano was charged with three counts of third-degree burglary, two counts of third-degree larceny, all felonies, and one count each of fifth-degree larceny and sixth-degree larceny, both misdemeanors. He was held in lieu of a total bond of $65,000, and is due in court Aug. 27.
