Rachel Hegarty, an Arlington photographer, has died after battling cancer for more than a year.
Hegarty, 41, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2024 surrounded by her family, according to her obituary on the Murphy Funeral Homes website.

Friends and loved ones are mourning the loss of the Maryland woman strangled by her boyfriend, a high school football coach.
Patrina Best, 38, was found by police on Saturday, Feb. 17 during a welfare check at her inside of her Accokeek home, and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Carl Kearney, Jr., 43, a high school football coach, was charged with murder after turning himself in at the Prince George's County Police Department, and saying he'd strangled his girlfriend earlier that day, county police said.

Tributes and donations are pouring in following the unexpected death of a beloved Maryland dad of three.
Daniel William Sears died Friday, Feb. 9, his obituary says. He was 31.
Daniel attended Lansdowne High School and worked in the construction industry, according to his Facebook page. He lived in Baltimore at the time of his passing.
Daniel is survived by his cherished parents, Thomas and Sandra Sears; his three loving children, Breanna, Kya, and Aubrey; his caring sister, Nicole and her spouse William; and many extended family members and close friends.

Carroll County mom Jennifer Kassakatis Geilfuss died at home on Thursday, Feb. 1, according to her obituary on the Zumbrun Funeral Home website. She was 44 years old.
Jennifer was born in Texas but graduated from Liberty High School in Eldersburg, then settled in Westminster, her obituary says.
