South Jersey Volunteer Fire Chief Dies, Remembered For 'Selfless' Community Service A volunteer fire chief has died after serving Atlantic County for more than three decades, officials said. Cardiff fire Chief Gil Zonge "answered his final alarm" on Saturday, May 11, the volunteer company in Egg Harbor Township said in a Facebook post. His age and cause of death were not given. Zonge was a member of the Cardiff Volunteer Fire Company and the Egg Harbor Township Fire Department for more than 30 years.
