Bridgeport Native Receives Heart Transplant On Valentine's Day
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A 60-year-old Bridgeport man who needed a heart transplant received a special gift this Valentine’s Day. John Pesavento learned early Sunday that he would be receiving the donor heart he needed after a year of waiting. The surgery was completed at Yale-New Haven Hospital on Sunday evening. Pesavento was diagnosed with stage-end heart failure after complications from a heart attack he suffered 20 years ago. Rollover Crash Causes Delays On Merritt In Greenwich
GREENWICH, Conn. — A rollover crash of a pickup truck was blocking the right lane of the Merritt Parkway in Greenwich on Monday afternoon, according to the Greenwich Fire Department. The accident was reported at about 3:20 p.m. on the northbound parkway between Exits 29 and 31, the Connecticut Department of Transportation said. The right lane was closed. Traffic was moving slowly approaching the Lake Avenue exit after the crash, DOT said. Greenwich Police and Fire were on the scene of the rollover. Pedestrian Hit By Vehicle On I-95 In Bridgeport After Rollover
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A person was hit by a vehicle and seriously injured on I-95 northbound in Bridgeport late Sunday, according to the Connecticut Post. Wilton Music Teacher Earns $1K Grant As Finalist In Grammy Contest
WILTON, Conn. — Frank "Chip" Gawle, a music educator at Wilton High School and a North Stamford resident, was one of 10 finalists nationwide for the 2016 Music Educator Award presented by the Grammy Foundation and The Recording Academy. Although Gawle did not win the top award, he will receive a $1,000 grant for being a finalist, and Wilton High School will receive a matching award. Gawle is the band director and a fine and performing arts instructional leader at Wilton High School, where he has worked for 35 years. Gawle will retire at the end of the school year. Sherman Home Destroyed By Fire On Frigid Night
SHERMAN, Conn. — Firefighters battled a blaze in a home on Deer Hill Road in Sherman as well as near-zero temperatures on Saturday night, according to the News-Times. Neighbors reported the fire in the home, which was empty at the time, the News-Times said. It was fully engulfed by the time firefighters arrived and was destroyed in the blaze, the Sherman Volunteer Fire Department told the News-Times. Darien Police Report Water Main Break On Mansfield Ave.
DARIEN, Conn. – Darien police were reporting a water main break on Mansfield Avenue near Mansfield Place on Sunday evening. Due to icy conditions and ongoing repair work, a detour was in place. Police were urging drivers to seek alternate routes, police said.

Bridgeport Police: Homicide Victim Was Shot During Robbery
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — The 28-year-old man who was killed in Bridgeport's first homicide of 2016 was shot to death while he was being robbed Thursday night, according to the Connecticut Post. Javoni Patton was shot several times at close range near his car at Stratford and Connecticut avenues near the Stratford border, a few blocks from his home on Elizabeth Street.
