Weir Farm National Historic Site Salutes Veterans With Gifts, Tours RIDGEFIELD/WILTON, Conn. — In honor of Veterans Day, Weir Farm National Historic Site will be offering special tours and a gift to all military veterans who visit the park on Saturday, Nov. 11.  The park will be open from 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.  Although the buildings would nornally closed for the season, Weir Farm will be opening up the Visitor Center, Weir House, Weir Studio, and Young Studio to visiting veterans and their families on Saturday.  The Weir Farm staff thanks all veterans for their service. Fun, Flamingoes, 4,000 Runners Expected At Vicki Soto 5K In Stratford STRATFORD, Conn. — About 4,000 runners are expected to take part in the 5th annual Vicki Soto 5K on Saturday, what would have been the Sandy Hook School teacher’s 32nd birthday. Soto, a first-grade teacher, died Dec. 14, 2012, when a gunman shot and killed 20 children and six staff members at the school. Runners come from around the United States to participate in the day, which, despite its origins, is filled with fun and laughter. Westport To Mark Veterans Day With Music And Reflection WESTPORT, Conn. — The Town of Westport will hold its annual Veterans Day services on Saturday, Nov. 11 at Town Hall auditorium. At 10:30 a.m., the Westport Community Band will present a “Patriotic Salute to All Veterans” program of marches and patriotic tunes. The services begin at 11 a.m., the time the treaty was signed to end World War I. The program will include a Veterans Day address by Staples High School senior Brooke Kessler, president of the Rho Kappa Honor Society. The public is invited to this free event.
